Frequently asked questions
Choosing the right psychiatrist/therapist is an important decision. To aid you in making this choice, I will schedule a complimentary 20 minute call to see if my approach will fit your needs.
If we are a good fit, I will schedule an initial intake that is generally 90 minutes. This initial consultation will include a full psychiatric, social, and medical history as well as any specific questions/goals that you would like to work on. Follow up sessions are typically 50 minutes whether the focus is solely medication management, therapy or a mix of both.
I provide out-of-network care for clients across New York. Working outside of insurance allows for longer, flexible sessions with treatment tailored to your needs — not dictated by time limits or checkboxes. I provide superbills for reimbursement if your insurance includes out-of-network benefits.
Prior to your appointment, ask your insurance company about whether they cover out-of-network services and how to file this claim. You can also consider using an app such as Reimbursify or Mentaya.
You can ask your insurance:
Does my insurance reimburse for out-of-network telehealth sessions?
Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Per medication management session? Per combo therapy and medication management session?
How many sessions does my insurance cover per year?
Is approval or prior-authorization required?
How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

You have the right to request a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers are required to give clients who don’t have insurance/ not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

Clinic hours are between 8 AM-4:30 PM Monday-Friday. We can discuss fee during our initial 20-minute phone consultation. Payment is due at the time of service.
There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you miss or cancel a therapy session within 24 hours, the fee is the full cost of the missed session. Please leave a voicemail to update me if cancellation is needed in a timely manner to avoid such fees. If you arrive late to your therapy session, the session will end at the originally scheduled time.
At this time, I am conducting Telehealth visits only.
As a private practice focused on holistic and long-term mental health care goals, I try to minimize prescription of controlled substances (such as stimulants, benzodiazepines, or certain sleep aids). This approach allows me to prioritize safety, minimize the risk of dependence, and focus on evidence-based treatments such as psychotherapy, non-controlled medications, and lifestyle-based interventions.
